Each year, the editors of Wiley’s physica status solidi journals showcase some of the most interesting content in a special collection. This year’s selection contains 15 articles on topics spanning from non-equilibrium Greens functions, many-body physics and the Quantum Hall Effect via carbon and oxide electronics, nitride semiconductor devices and phase-change materials all the way to 2-d materials and neuromorphic computing. They were written by authors from all over the world. All articles are free to access until the end of 2020.

Toward Quantum Hall Effect in a Josephson Junction

Quantum Hall states in proximity to a superconductor are expected to host topologically protected quasiparticles with non‐trivial braiding properties, with potential applications in quantum technologies. As a first step toward this goal, here, Guiducci et al. demonstrate observation of the quantum Hall effect in a Josephson junction device based on an InAs quantum well.
