Description

Starting from graphene, Van de Waals compounds and transition metal dichalcogenides, 2D Quantum Materials have blossomed in the last years motivated by the interest in their fundamental properties and potential applications. 2D Quantum Materials cover almost every phenomenon in condensed matter physics such as magnetism, superconductivity, topological insulators and many more. These materials become strongly renormalized in the strict 2D limit, through a combination of quantum confinement and enhanced electronic interactions. As a result, they exhibit enhanced quantum effects and display exceptionally strong interactions with electromagnetic fields. The symposium is aimed at highlighting recent progress that span theory, fabrication, characterization and device implementation of these fascinating atomically thin materials.
